Fertility Bracelets

For many years, women who have been struggling to become pregnant naturally have turned to other means of increasing their fertility, both chemical and natural. One of the more natural means of enhancing fertility is the wearing of various gemstones worn as fertility bracelets.

How long have women been wearing fertility bracelets?
Since before biblical times, women have been wearing fertility bracelets. References to the use of fertility bracelets appear in the old testament of the bible. African tribal societies also used fertility bracelets although the ones they wore were made out of elephant hair, iron or copper.

What gemstones are used in fertility bracelets and why?
There are many different gemstones used in the making of fertility bracelets. These stones include aquamarine, bloodstone, moonstone, citrine, garnet, aventurine, turquoise, chrysoprase, rose quartz, tiger eye and red coral. All of these stones are reputed to have great healing powers. Let us look at a few of these stones in greater detail.

1. Rose Quartz:
This is a type of quartz that has been tinted to a light pink to rose red caused by traces of titanium, manganese or iron. It is considered to be a stone of love and to increase sexual energy.

2. Aventurine:
Aventurine is a rock that is most usually green, but can also be found in shades of oranges, browns, blues, yellows and greys. It is said to promote both physical and mental health, as well as enhance fertility.

3. Red Coral:
Red coral, also known as precious coral is found mainly in the Mediterranean Sea, It can be polished to a glossy shine and ranges pale pink to deep red in hue. It is used in fertility bracelets because it is said to regulate the menstruation cycle.

4. Moonstone:
Moonstine is a beautiful rock with a pearly and opalescent gleam. It can be found in a variety of colours including grey, white, pink, green, brown and blue. Moonstone is said to aid receptivity, the balancing of emotions and nurturing. It is used to help the mother-to-be prepare herself to carry life.

5. Chrysoprase
Chrysoprase is a form of gemstone similar in make up to chalcedony. It is most usually found in shades of apple green, but this can vary to a deep green shade.  This stone is said to balance the hormones and correct any bleeding disorders.

Do fertility bracelets work?
Many people believe that fertility bracelets do indeed work. They believe that the energies contained within the stones will indeed aid your fertility, heal any medical conditions you might have and help you conceive. They also believe that when worn after conception, the same healing energies with move through the baby and help it develop the way it should.

Whether or not you decide you believe in the healing properties of the stones, wearing a fertility bracelet can symbolise your desire to conceive and have a baby of your own.
